Currently, I am a third year law student at Albany Law School of Union University, located in Albany, New York. I have had the opportunity to intern for both a New York State Supreme Court Judge, as well as a Judge on the Appellate Division, Third Department. In the summer after my first year, I worked for the New York State Thruway Authority; and this past summer, again, I worked for New York State, this time at the Industrial Board of Appeals, within the Department of Labor. Finally, I have the privilege to edit for Distinguished Professor of Law Emeritus David D. Siegel, the preeminent authority on matters of civil procedure in New York State.
Prior to my law school career, I worked for the Office of the Albany County Public Defender. There, I was the Office Manager, helping indigent individuals receive legal counsel that they otherwise could not afford. Before my service to Albany County, I graduated from the University at Albany, State University of New York, with a B.A. in Psychology.
As law school would take up the majority of my time, I dedicated myself to many activities there, allowing myself exposure to numerous volunteer opportunities. I currently hold the position of Note & Comment Editor for the Albany Law Review, where I review for purposes of publication in our journal the articles authored by my fellow classmates. I am also the current Chair of the Domenick L. Gabrielli Appellate Advocacy Moot Court Competition. If you can forgive the rather long title, my position as Chair allows me to run what most consider the best moot court competition our school has to offer. Though originally I was concerned about the time necessary for the competition, it was my first real chance to give back to the law school that has given so much to me. Having completed the majority of work and gleaned invaluable experience, I can safely say that I am happy I did so.
Additionally, beyond my above-mentioned education and work experience, I have held a multitude of jobs, fit for one’s memoirs. I have seal-coated driveways, sold advertisements in the phone book, worked in a parking garage, for a bus company, in a warehouse shredding documents (with proper consent and legal authority, of course), mowed lawns, painted walls, sanded desks, sat at a desk and was able in my free time to go grocery shopping for my grandmother.
I joined World’s Window in early 2010 at the request of my cousin, Michael Casey, former Executive Director for the organization. I was honored that he asked me, and I will continue to strive to make sure that his original goals are not only achieved, but hopefully surpassed.
