Anabella De La Rosa

Wednesday, January 29th, 2014

Anabella was born in the small village of San Felipe in Belize and after a week of being on this earth, moved to Gallon Jug where her family still resides. She attended Gallon Jug Community School (now Casey Community School) and was lucky to be mentored by Michael Casey who pushed her to pursue higher education. She graduated from GJCS in 2004 and attended one year of high school in Belize. With the help of the Casey, Schuessler and Dodge families she enrolled at Tabor Academy in Marion, MA and graduated in 2009. With the help of many others she continued her studies at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA and graduated with a BA in Anthropology in 2013. She is now employed at Equinox Inc. as a Residence Counselor in their Domestic Violence Shelter.

In Belize, many children do not continue their schooling after 8th grade and experiencing this first hand, Anabella knows how prevalent this issue is. Education changed her life and opened doors that were not there for her before. Two of her sisters are currently enrolled in the program and one has already graduated thus she sees the great work that this organization is doing. She knows that she will continue to see success stories as she works with Worlds Window and can only hope that her involvement will aid and perhaps make a difference in children’s lives as it was made in hers.

I was born and raised in Grafton, NY where I currently live with my 4 year old daughter Maggie.  I attended LaSalle Institute with Michael Casey and graduated from Champlain College in Burlington, VT.  This is where I met Mike’s wife Jillian

Currently I’m pursuing a career in sales and was drawn to the organization because of my close ties to Mike and Jill.  Community service and acts of good will have always been something I have tried to incorporate into my life.

Emily is currently enrolled at the University of Michigan’s MBA/MS dual degree program at the Ross School of Business and the School of Natural Resources and Environment.  Prior to coming to Michigan, Emily worked in higher-ed fundraising, both annual giving and international advancement, with a focus on Asia and Europe. Emily earned a B.A. in government and environmental science and policy from Smith College, where she served as President of the Student Government and member of the Board of Trustees. In her free time, Emily can be found rowing, hiking, snowboarding, rafting, or cycling (weather dependent, of course), or in Belize!

Emily’s favorite World’s Window moment was leading the scholarship students through a full-day mentoring retreat in May 2012.  She can’t wait to visit her friends again soon!

Chris Casey

Sunday, November 7th, 2010

Chris brings a wide spectrum of experience to his position as Executive Director of Worldʼs Window, Inc. Currently, he competes as a professional Ironman Triathlete –– which he began to pursue seriously in 2005 –– training and competing in races in Maine, Lake Placid, New Hampshire, Florida, Hawaii, and other places on the map in between.

Having always been an outdoor enthusiast with a concern for environmental issues, even his education reflects that. With a B. S. in Psychology and Environmental Science from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh, Chris proceeded to explore his passion for the outdoors through a variety of work experiences and recreational pursuits, including graduating from NOLS –– National Outdoor Leadership School in Wyoming. As well, he became certified through the National Ski Patrol in Outdoor Emergency Care and worked as a licensed New York State Wilderness Guide. Along the way –– somewhere between work that took him from Vermont, Pennsylvania and Colorado to a cross country bicycle trip with his best friend –– he developed with his brother, Mike Casey, a long-term goal for giving back and helping others somehow. But how?

For years, the two Casey brothers had conversations about how they might contribute to the preservation of a healthy planet. Conversations eventually morphed into an opportunity with Worldʼs Window, Inc. –– then centered in Zimbabwe. Working with Mike to reposition the organization in Belize, where Mike and his wife, Jill worked for Gallon Jug Community School, Chrisʼ involvement with the organizationʼs new direction began to take shape, if only from the periphery at that point. After the accident that took the lives of Mike, Jill, Makayla and Bryce, Chris stepped into the role of Executive Director of Worldʼs Window, Inc., formerly held by Mike. From here, he plans to work with the Board to further expand and develop Worldʼs Window, Inc., using education to benefit children and ensure a healthy planet.
