The Casey Family

IN LOVING MEMORY

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of former Executive Director, Michael Casey; his wife, Jill; three-year-old daughter, Makayla; and six-month-old son, Bryce in a plane crash on Ambergris Caye, Belize on Friday, February 26, 2010.
Mike had been involved with World’s Window for the last three years, initially as our project manager in Belize, representing the Gallon Jug Community School. When the leadership position with the organization became available, Mike articulated his vision for continuing the work of World’s Window and developed a business plan that represented growth and expanded opportunities for children through access to secondary and tertiary level education. His passion and deep sense of commitment allowed the Board of Directors to entrust the management of this organization to Mike. Mike took over the reins on January 1, 2010; he had begun the work of affirming the vision and mission of World’s Window and building the framework for the continued success and viability of the organization.
To honor the lives and work of Mike and Jill and the importance of World’s Window’s mission, Mike’s brother, Chris Casey stepped into the role of Executive Director that Mike so sadly and tragically left behind. It had been their years-long shared goal to reach out and make a difference in the world. This difficult but hopeful transition will allow Chris to carry on his and Mike’s dream. And with the strong support of the Board of Directors comes the renewed strength and determination of World’s Window to succeed and effect positive change in the lives and communities of those in need.
Our sorrow is deep and profound; this tragedy has deprived our world of two dedicated humanitarians and educators who had blessed the planet with two more young lives. We are forever grateful to have shared our lives and a patch of earth with Mike, Jill, Makayla and Bryce. Our time with them was far too brief.
